Covid-19 : Prez Akufo-Addo Addresses Ghana tonight

President Akufo-Addo is expected to address Ghana to night on the steps being taken to contain, combat and prevent the spread of infectious Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research has recommended that government immediately take a second look at the state of adherence to Covid19 safety protocols.

The latest call by Noguchi follows the third wave of Covid-19 that is beginning to hard-hit the shores of Ghana currently amid Delta variant in the face of breaches of ban on funeral by President Akufo-Addo, his vice Dr. Bawumia, Chief Justice Anin Yeboah during Sir John’s funeral and his recent tour of the Savanna Region.

Speaking in an interview monitored by African Editors on Sunday 25 July 2021, Senior Research Fellow at Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical Research Dr. Kofi Bonney said “Government must relook at the state of adherence to safety protocols and impose restrictions to ensure total compliance. Delta variant stays on surfaces for long”.

Achimota School in Accra recently recorded cases of Delta variant of Covid-19 leading a temporary closure of the school amid testing.
