Eid-Al-Adha: Pray for Ghana- Speaker tells Muslims
As Muslims mark Eid-Al-Adhar today, Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin has appealed to practitioners of the Islamic faith to intensify prayers to seek the hand of Providence for Ghana because “these are not the best of times for our country.”. The latest call for the creator and controller of the universe to intervene in the affairs of the country is informed by myriad of challenges facing Ghana.
Delivering his Eid-Al-Adha message to practitioners of the Islamic faith on Tuesday, 20 July 2021, Alban Bagbin lamented that “Ghana’s economy needs an urgent boost if we are to experience growth and development. We have been propagating a paradigm shift in the management of our economy, which never seems to materialize. We cannot continue down the route on which we are currently, with very little effort at industrialization: it has not been helpful.”
According to the Speaker, challenges of the Ghana in various aspects of national life are glaring.
Bagbin noted that “within the Ghanaian social setup, there is intense pressure on educational and health facilities.
For him, the “growth in our population, which I believe will be confirmed by population and housing census in motion, has not seen a corresponding efforts to improve upon infrastructure for health and education. The result is glaring for all of us see observe, lack of hospital beds and schools under trees continue to be a burning issue”
Apart from the totality of all of these Ghana is politically polarised and divisiveness is on higher notes.
his view, these are what “we must pray for during this solemn occasion, so that the Almighty Allah will properly order our steps as a country and place us on the path towards national reconstruction and restoration.”
Bagbin wants leaders of the country to exhibit a lot more sacrifice whilst working at resolving the many challenges that confront the nation.
According to the Speaker, the political is not on top of issues when government’s machinery continues to classify constructive critiques as political activists with logically digesting their complaints for appropriate remedy.
“We are in a hurry to point out political coloration of citizens who raise issues with where our country is headed, instead of finding out the reasoning and the logic in the issues raised. We cannot continue like this. In addition, we see very little attempt to punish corruption and inefficiency among the political class, thereby creating the perception of political clubbing at the highest level of the political superstructure of this country”, noted in his Eid-Al-Adha message to the practitioners of the Islamic faith.
