GES interdicts 2 more sch heads over unauthorised charges

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken action against two more school heads for allegedly selling unauthorized items to Form One students. Mr. Afi Yaw Stephen, the Headmaster of Berekum Senior High School, and Mr. Joseph Jilinjeh Abudu, the Headmaster of Odomaseman Senior High School, have been placed on interdiction.

They were instructed to step aside for charging unauthorized fees and selling unauthorized items. Mr. Afi was accused of imposing fees such as “Borla fees,” “motivation fees,” and charges for lunch bags. On the other hand, Mr. Jilinjeh Abudu faced allegations of charging students GHC45 for hymn books, SRC fees, brown khaki, and other items.

With these new cases, the total number of interdicted headteachers has now reached four, including Patience Naki Mensah, the Headmistress of Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua, and Nadia Lartechoe Annan, the Headmistress of O’Reilly Senior High School, all accused of imposing unapproved fees.
