Ghana Gas Board inspects ongoing maintenance works at Atuabo Gas Processing Plant

Board led by Hon. Kofi Totobi Quakyi pays working visit

The governing board of directors of Ghana National Gas Limited Company, led by its Chairman, Hon. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, on Sunday, 24th August 2025, inspected the ongoing planned maintenance works at the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant in the Western Region.

Major maintenance underway after 11 years of operations

The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant, a key national infrastructure in Ghana’s energy sector, was shut down on Saturday, 16th August 2025, to undergo major maintenance works. This exercise includes critical servicing and replacement procedures, some of which are being carried out for the first time since the plant began operations over a decade ago.

Progress on track as work nears completion

The inspection visit by the board took place on the ninth day of the scheduled 14-day shutdown. Following the tour and a technical briefing, the board expressed satisfaction with the progress of work. The Chairman, Hon. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, noted that the team is on track to complete the maintenance within the stipulated period, and expressed confidence that the plant would resume operations as scheduled.

Hon. Totobi Quakyi lauded the technical team and workers for their professionalism and dedication. He emphasized the importance of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant to Ghana’s energy security and industrial development, urging staff to continue safeguarding the facility as a critical national asset.
