Ghana will be peaceful if Ofori-Atta resigns –Atta Akyea
Samuel Atta Akyea, the Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, has suggested that the resignation of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta could bring peace to the country. Atta-Akyea emphasized the importance of self-reflection for Ofori-Atta and encouraged him to consider stepping down for his personal well-being and also for the benefit of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). In an interview with Citi TV, Atta-Akyea appealed to Ofori-Atta to prioritize the nation’s interests and contemplate resigning from his position.
Atta-Akyea explained that the overwhelming demand from the public for Ofori-Atta’s resignation can be a source of stress, and stepping down could provide the Finance Minister with some much-needed relief. He also expressed the belief that Ofori-Atta’s departure could create a more peaceful environment for the government and the nation as a whole.
The calls for Ofori-Atta’s resignation have grown louder over the past few months, mainly from Members of Parliament within the NPP. The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has also been vocal, holding Ofori-Atta responsible for the country’s fiscal challenges.
In response to the demands for his resignation, Ofori-Atta admitted feeling emotionally distressed and disappointed. However, he remains committed to his role and expressed his determination to serve the country and help it recover from its economic struggles. Ofori-Atta believes that these challenging times require courageous individuals who are willing to stay and fight for the well-being of the nation. Despite facing criticism and opposition, he sees it as his duty to serve and contribute to the country’s recovery efforts.
