Electricity has no party colours: we need timetable -Atta-Akyea

Samuel Atta Akyea, Chairperson of Parliament’s Committee on Mines and Energy, has joined the chorus of voices calling for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to release a load-shedding timetable during the current power crisis.

The Abuakwa South MP expressed disappointment in Minister for Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, for dismissing the need for a timetable and politicising the issue. Atta Akyea emphasized that electricity consumption is not limited by political affiliations and that a timetable would help people plan their activities around the power outages. He insisted that a timetable is necessary until the situation stabilizes.

Meanwhile, Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh maintains that there is no rolling power crisis and questioned the need for a timetable. His remarks have received criticism for being indifferent to the struggles of Ghanaians affected by the sporadic power cuts.
