GNECS, WIPVaC donate to Madina Polyclinic

As part of the activities in celebration of the International Women’s Day, the Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat (GNECS) in collaboration with Women in Poultry value chain (WIPVaC) supported by Eggstra-o have donated creates of eggs and Tom Vita foods to the staff and nursing mothers of Madina Polyclinic at Kekele in Accra.

The President of the Greater Accra Women in Poultry Value Chain, Pamela Agbotse who presented the items explained that the event is celebrated annually worldwide and so, it enables the respective association have expressed their desire to engage the hospital by putting smiles on the faces of nursing mothers as well as staff,

She noted that similar donations taken place at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital because eggs contain high protein and nutritional values which are good to human health, adding that, women should consume more eggs as part of their daily meal.

“Eggs forms part of the balance diet in our foods and reduces emerging sickness in the human body and goes well with evening meal and therefore hospital dieticians must engage and educate women on the nutritional values as well as the importance of eggs”, she added.

Also, the Coordinator of the Ghana National Egg Campaign Secretariat, Ms. Comfort Kyerewa Acheampong advised consumers to wash the eggs properly before cooked for meals.

She further explained that such habit could help clean every bacteria and other unwanted substances towards healthy growth and development.

“the public must dispel rumors that eggs have high cholesterol because it contains huge amount of protein which is good for human health as well as enhances the nutritional wellbeing of people”, she said.

The National President of Women in Poultry Value Chain, Dr. Mrs. Victoria Norgbey also urged women to scale up the production of eggs since it supports the health needs of the citizens, adding that, they must be adequately resourced in their production capacity.

She therefore charged women to live up to their commitments in all their working endeavors because women would continue to excel through a united front.

Ms. Ndidi Fordjoe, the head of Project at Eggstra ‘O also’ said their support is geared towards the celebration of the International Women’s Day under the auspices of the American Soybean Association and World Initiative for Soy in Human Health funding partners.

She therefore thanked all the stakeholders in the eggs value chain for their commitments demonstrated towards women.

Mrs. Naana Adjei, a registered dietician also advised participants to consume of eggs in meals helps the human body to develop a high sense sound brain and strengthens the spinal cord among others for a healthy growth.

Receiving the items, the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer of the Madina Polyclinic, Kekele, Madam Ida Osei-Kuffor expressed her gratitude the donors, adding because it was timely and would be distributed for intended purpose and urged others to emulate the gesture.
