Gov’t sets ‘unrealistic’ targets not us –GRA workers’ union to VP

The Ghana Revenue Authority Workers’ Union (GRAWU) has expressed disappointment in statements attributed to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, suggesting that the GRA is harassing taxpayers.

Members of GRAWU believe that such statements could cause worker discontent, hindering revenue collection and potentially leading to industrial unrest.

In a statement released by the Union, they pointed out the contradiction in Dr. Bawumia’s remarks, especially considering his role as the Head of the Economic Management Team.

The Union called on President Nana Akufo-Addo and other stakeholders to address the issue, as the Vice President’s statement could negatively impact revenue collection in the country.

The rebuttal from GRAWU comes after Dr. Bawumia raised concerns about tax harassment during a meeting with the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Organized Labour issued a statement condemning the Vice President’s comments, emphasizing the hard work of GRA staff and warning against continued attacks that could disrupt revenue collection efforts and lead to industrial disharmony.
