Kenyan presidential results: Ruto in early lead with 52.3%, Odinga 46.9%

African Editors’ sources have confirmed that Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto is in early slide lead based on provisional presidential results from Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) so far, recording 139, 571 votes representing 52.3%  as against his closest contender Raila Odinga who polled 125,169 votes, representing 46.9%  , George Wajackoyah polled 1,735 representing 0.7%, David Mwaure recorded 129 representing 0.1%.

Polling stations have now closed in Kenya’s general election. Four candidates are vying to be president, with voters also choosing governors, senators, MPs and county assembly members.

In order to win in the first round, a candidate must get 50% plus one of the cast vote and at least 25% of the votes in 24 out of 47 counties.

52.3% + 46.9% + 0.7% + 0.1% = 💯%
