About Kuenyehia Prize for Contemporary Art
Kuenyehia Prize for Contemporary Art is the flagship programme of Kuenyehia Trust for Contemporary Art, set up by Professor Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia to identify, reward, promote and develop Africa’s most outstanding artists between the ages of 18 and 40; showcase and celebrate excellence in contemporary African art; and inspire the next generation of African artists to produce outstanding work that will attract both local and international audiences.

The Trust provides its artists with multiple platforms to showcase and promote their work. These include opportunities to participate in exhibitions, talks and publications. The Prize’s previous winners and shortlisted artists have had opportunities to showcase their work at leading art fairs such as the FNB Johannesburg Art Fair and at exhibitions in South Africa, the United States and Spain.
