Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah elected Manhyia South NPP PC

Private Legal Practitioner Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, representing the New Patriotic Party in the Manhyia South Constituency, emerged as the winner of the party’s parliamentary primary held on Sunday, July 14. He received 376 votes, defeating Nana Owusu Prempeh, brother of the outgoing MP, who received 141 votes. The other two contestants, Akwasi Coker Gyambibi and James Owusu, received 2 and 7 votes respectively. The primary was held following the selection of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Manhyia South is a stronghold of the NPP, and the winner of the primary is expected to run in the upcoming by-election to become the MP.
