NPP Primaries: Controller and Accountant General defeated in Akim Swedru

Mr. Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, the Controller and Accountant General, experienced a setback when he was unsuccessful in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary for the Akim Swedru constituency.

During the primary, Mr. Kwaning-Bosompem received 94 votes, while the current MP, Kennedy Osei, emerged as the winner with 194 votes. Additionally, Mr. Okyere Jerome Kwame received 10 votes.

The competition in the constituency garnered significant attention after the Controller and Accountant General announced his intention to compete for the seat.

While Mr. Kwaning-Bosompem received support from prominent individuals, there were also calls for his resignation or dismissal from his position due to his decision to engage in politics while serving as a public servant.
