SDA Church petitions EC, AG to change Dec 7 elections day

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is appealing for a change in the scheduling of the December 7 elections. In their petitions to the Electoral Commission, they argue that the date clashes with the Sabbath, a day sacred to their religious beliefs.

To promote inclusivity and respect for religious practices, they propose shifting the elections to the first or second Tuesday of November. In a meeting with the Electoral Commission, the church presented this alternative date for consideration.

Furthermore, they have submitted another petition to the Attorney General, seeking an amendment to the constitutional provisions that limit the timing of parliamentary and presidential elections in Ghana.
