Soften your stands- Scrap dealers to Henry Quartey

General Secretary of the Greater Accra Scrap Dealers Association, Mohammed Ali, has petitioned the Mayor of Accra Hon. Henry Quartey to adopt soft approaches to dealing with scrap dealers at Agbogbloshie.

This follows the government’s plan to build a facility at Kofi Kwei, in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region for scrap dealers at Agbogbloshie.

Speaking in an interview monitored by African Editors on Monday 4 July 2021, General Secretary of Greater Accra Scrap Dealers Association Mohammed Ali said “We want to plead that some of your bulldozers and the way they go about their actions, they need to tone down”.

Prior to this, a Joint Military Force on July 1, 2021, stormed the market to ensure that Onion traders relocate to Adjen Kotoku, at Amasaman in the Ga West Municipality without complaints of robbery from the Place, particularly reputed to be a haven of hoodlums.

This incident was received with mixed reactions as traders and occupants had to vacate the premise.
