Abbosey-Okai Has Become A Place of Hell For Us, We Can No Longer Buy Spare Parts
We have been disappointed by the government’s failure to institute any policy regarding the reduction of prices of spare parts.
At Ghana’s hub of automobile spare parts, prices have risen beyond imagination throwing us into a state of despair.
Prices of spare parts have increased with over a one hundred percent since this NPP government took over in 2017.
Cost of servicing atop that of the spare parts coupled with the high prices of petroleum products further exacerbates our situation and keeps plunging us out of business.
It is on this note that we are demanding for an urgent government facilitated reduction of prices of spare parts lest we shall enforce a 10percent increment in transport fares.
It is sad to re-echo that the government has been a very big disappointment to our sector even though they had massive support from both spare parts dealers and drivers that which propelled their chances of securing victory.
Sadly, the government which is strongly aware about this matter has opted not to do anything to save us out of the situation. Even though their very own Nana Akomea has for uncountable times wailed over the matter as CEO of State Transport Corporation and attributed losses and the risk of the company’s collapse to same the finance minister failed to mention any sort of reduction in import duties placed on spare parts.
Today, President Akufo Addo and his people have suddenly placed dealers at Abbosey Okai and drivers in their category of enemies and even failing to visit us to dialogue on our plight just as they did before getting power.
We’ve had an unprecedented records of vehicular accidents that can be related to completely worn out vehicular parts in recent times.
We can no longer change spare parts on regular basis due to the constant rise in cost and the situation throwing both drivers and passengers in danger.
The trajectory may even get worse as we approach Christmas.
We are pleading with Ghanaians to bear and cooperate with us when we roll out the 10percent increment which will be subject to the government’s failure to ensure a reduction in the prices of spare parts.
