The Leadership of the Abossey Spare Parts Dealers Association in the Greater Accra region has debunked the allegation of 120% increment in prices of spare parts claimed by operators commercial drivers.

Association of operators of commercial vehicles last week issued a statement to increase transport fares due to alleged increment of spare parts as one of drivers and purpose for the purported increase.

But, the Association of spare parts dealers has debunked that claim as total falsehood because there has been no such drastical increment of spare parts in the country.

In a statement issued and signed by the Head of Comunications of the Association, Takyi Addo acknowledged the fact that, though there have been marginal adjustments in prices of certain spare parts, the assertion that there has been a blanket increase of 120% across the board is entirely inaccurate.

The statement said, the Association wants to emphasize that any such claims are misleading and lack factual basis.

“The Association therefore encourages responsible reporting and use of information, especially when it concerns economic matters that impact various sectors of our society”, it said.

The statement further said, it is imperative to present accurate information that reflects the realities on the ground.

The Association urges the leadership of the commercial drivers to reconsider their earlier statement and reasons for a fare increment and not rely on inaccurate figures to justify their position.

“We believe that open and honest dialogue, based on factual information, will lead to a more constructive and understanding resolution”, it added.

Therefore, the Association calls on all stakeholders to critically assess the claims made by the commercial drivers and to seek accurate and reliable information before making decisions based on misinformation.

“We appreciate the cooperation of all parties involved in addressing this matter and ensuring that the public is well-informed”, it noted.
