Akufo-Addo could tax air but God made it free –Ex-MP

Former Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho, has strongly criticized President Akufo-Addo’s taxation policies, suggesting that the president’s inclination to tax the Ghanaian populace extends to nearly every sector of the economy. In an interview with the media, Sorogho expressed concerns about the president’s insatiable desire to impose taxes on ordinary Ghanaians.

Sorogho highlighted Akufo-Addo’s extensive borrowing, leading to difficulties for Ghana in servicing its debt portfolio. Moreover, he pointed out that under Akufo-Addo’s administration, Ghana has struggled to meet its debt obligations and relied on the Debt Exchange Program to manage the burden. If the country’s debt were divided among its citizens, each person would be expected to contribute a substantial amount.

Sorogho argued that these financial challenges are a result of President Akufo-Addo’s policies and emphasized the impact of his economic decisions on debt management.
