Akufo-Addo driver unions locked-up in meeting over full-blown strike

Leadership of GPRTU says President Nana Akuffo Addo has called on the Coalition of Commercial Transport Operators to suspend their indefinite nationwide strike and come to Jubilee house for further engagement.

The President called on leadership of the driver Unions for an emergency meeting at Jubilee house because according to him, neither the Transport Minister nor the Energy Minister has informed him if the Coalition intended strike and therefore pleaded with them to be patient and come to the Jubilee House for further consultation.

According to the transport operators, the government has failed to heed their request to reduce taxes and levies on petroleum products in order to reduce the fuel price at the pump , hence, their decision to strike to cause government attention.

Speaking to the media, a representative of the Group and Communications Director of GPRTU, Alhaji Imoro Abass has called on to all drivers to go back to work with immediate effect.

At the time of reporting, drivers had resumed work awaiting any directives from leadership after the crunch meeting with the President.
