Albert Dwumfour elected new GJA President

Group Head of Corporate Affairs at the Tobinco Group, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has been elected President of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) in Friday’s polls.

Dwumfour beats two candidates to emerge the winner. He polled 233votes whilst his closest contender Gayheart Mensah had 181 votes.

Editor of the Ghanaian Times Newspaper and former General Secretary of the GJA, Dave Agbenu, who was the third contestant garnered 143 votes.

The GJA is the umbrella body for journalists in Ghana.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Dwumfour promised to enage all stakeholders for the good of journalists.

Vice-President position was contested solely by the incumbent, Linda Asante Agyei whilst Audrey Dekalu also went unopposed for the Treasurer position.

Kofi Yeboah, newly-elected General Secretary of GJA

Kofi Yeboah was elected the General Secretary, beating a new entrant Akwasi Agyemang of Adom FM.

Dominic Hlordzi, newly-elected National Organising Secretary of GJA

New entrant Dominic Hlordzi, Broadcast Journalist of GTV won the National Organising Secretary, beating long-time Crime Reporter and Current Foreign and Supplements Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mary Mensah.
