Angry Fomena NPP youth paint party office with NDC colours and Mahama posters (video)

Angry youth of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) within the Fomena constituency have demonstrated against the leadership of the party.
They were demonstrating against “A no polling station elections” in that area. On Monday March 7, the aggrieved members were seen changing the traditional colours of the NPP office which is, Red, White and Blue into Red, White, Green and Black, the traditional colours of their political rival, NDC. Earlier some aggrieved youth of the party vowed to reject any move by the party to impose the 2nd Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah on them.
The youths have also questioned the rationale behind the exemption of the constituency in the polling station executive election.
Addressing the media on Wednesday February 23 in Fomena, Michael Ankapong, Aspiring Youth Organiser said “we will resist any attempt by NPP party executives to impose the independent candidate together with his supporters on the faithful NPP supporters within the constituency”.
The youths have alleged, leadership of the party met the independent candidate.
“Some executives have met with the Independent candidate for Fomena constituency, Hon. Andrew Amoako Assiamah to bring on board his supporters to contest on party internal elections,” he said.Communication Director of the party, Yaw Buaben Asamoa failed to provide reasons for the exclusion of the Fomena constituency in the polling station elections.“We didn’t give reason before and we won’t give any reason now, this is purely internal affair” he stated.
It is important to anchor the point that the Fomena MP and Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Amoako Asiamah won the seat as an independent candidate during the 2020 elections after the NPP booted him out of Parliament, a situation many political and legal experts referred to as unfair, raising novel issues.
With NPP- 137 and NDC-137 seats in the current 8th Parliament of Ghana, it takes the Fomena MP who agreed to work with the NPP Majority Caucus to get 138 a crucial factor the governing party can hardly take for granted.
