Ex-AG condemns Sam Okudzeto’s backing of home cash stashing

Former Auditor General Daniel Domelevo has criticized Council of State member Sam Okudzeto for his comments defending the practice of stashing money at home, calling them unfortunate. Okudzeto had defended former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah, stating that she does not need to justify the source of funds found in her residence.

In an interview with TV3, Okudzeto accused Ghanaians of dishonesty in their criticism of Dapaah and questioned why other individuals with questionable wealth were not being scrutinized. Domelevo, however, maintains that keeping a large amount of money at home is questionable regardless of the legality of it.

The Center for Democratic Development, Ghana (CDD-Ghana) also expressed concern over the lack of transparency regarding the source of the substantial amount of money found in Dapaah’s home. They called for further investigation into the matter, as the source of the funds far exceeded Dapaah’s known income.
