Hold super-delegates conf at JH, Alan will still beat your sponsored candidate – Kotomah

Strategic political campaign operations lead, Issahaku Kotomah Kanyiti says even if the New Patriotic Party’s super-delegates conference to elect the top five aspirants for their presidential primaries is held in the Jubilee House, Former Trade and Industry Minister, Hon Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten shall beat the perceived candidate of the establishment, Vice President Muhammadu Bawumia.

He said this after the Steering Committee reiterated its decision to organise a decentralised super-delegates conference in August against the suggestion of those who petitioned that the election be centralised.

With ten aspirants campaigning to lead the NPP to break the 8 in 2024, per the party’s constitution, about 900 super-delegates must prune the list to 5 which, both the party and the aspirants are preparing for.

While the party is seeking to strictly go according to the constitutional provision for that, some of the aspirants would rather the conference is centralised to ensure greater transparency and fairnes, and avoid the incumbent taking advantage of decentralisation inadequacies to intimidate delegates in the regions and whip them in line.

However, General Secretary, Mr Justin Kodua after an emergency meeting over the petitioners concerns, reiterated the party’s position to hold a decentralised super-delegates conference.

This has triggered varied responses and reactions from different quarters. Whereas, some members of Hon Kennedy Ohene’s side are still expressing dissatisfaction, media news and political conversations suggest Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten’s team is not perturbed at all.

Leading campaigner, Issahaku Kotomah just posted on his Facebook timeline: you may decide to hold super-delegates conference at the Jubilee House ALAN WILL BEAT YOUR SPONSORED CANDIDATE HANDS DOWN!! We are not fools!!”

Reaching him in relation to his post, the dynamic strategist said he is confident that the delegates know what is good for the party and the nation, and, like they did in the National Executive elections, they shall eventually save the party from destruction.

According to him, “Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have done 16 years of party leadership just as Kufuor did. They’re stale and don’t seem to have much more vitality to render the party which, the delegates could observe as they did in John Boadu’s case even with all the backing he got from the Presidency.”

“Even if the grassroots and delegates are hungry it doesn’t mean they can’t think. Their brains are still intact. They know why they’re hungry. They appreciate the neglect they’ve endured since 2017, hence, no amount of money anybody gives them today because of the primaries can change their mind. They appreciate the hopelessness across board and shall go for a new fresh face full of hope and vitality to lead them to the next stage. They shall vote for somebody who is practically competent, credible and trustworthy enough to be accepted by the entire nation in 2024,” he explained.
