Lobbying for flagbearer aspirants breaks party rules-John Boadu

General Secretary of New Patriotic Party John has drawn attention of the rank and file of the party about the need to comply with the party’s set of principles consistently, arguing that testing waters on behalf of their preferred candidate is completely out of place.

John Boadu’s latest reminder follows deliberate attempts by some party members to test the waters for their preferred presidential hopeful ahead of 2024 polls during delegates meeting in the North East Region.

As per him, it isn’t prudent for party individuals to ignore the set of principles of the party required to instil discipline and ensure smooth progress in the quest for a new flagbearer.

John Boadu talking in a meeting demands “party individuals are the ones who grumbled about potential hopeful testing waters too soon in the year and requested that we get the National Executive Committee Council to assemble a set of rules of engagement and we have done that.”

He expressed that it isn’t ideal for these individuals to pivot and disregard a similar code which bars applicants and their allies from openly lobbying for flagbearership even before the green light.

This comes after the Chereponi NPP Chairmanin talking to delegates at the NPP gathering, straightforwardly embraced Vice President Dr. Bawumia for the 2024 race during his discourse.

In the mean time, John Boadu expressed that the set of principles had not been penetrated until the Chereponi administrator’s assertion, who felt he could spread the word about his aims since it was the home of the Vice President.

However, any party head who breaks the code could be hauled before disciplinary panel if a complaints are lodged, he expressed.

John Boadu noticed that “I repeated the way that we actually need to keep on complying with the implicit rules set without anyone else and help in guaranteeing that our change becomes smoother than anticipated.”

Driving political heavyweights of the party including Boakye Agyarko, Vice President Dr. Bawumia, Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and the Agric Minister Dr. Afriyie Akoto are gunning to bear the banner of the party going into the 2024 elections.

Despite this , John Boadu alerts NPP individuals against penetrating implicit rules
