Provide protective clothing for police- Dery to Banks

Minister of Interior Ambrose Dery who doubles as Member of Parliament for Nandom constituency has charged Banks to provide protective clothing for police to ensure their safety in the line of duty in face of security threats in recent times.

In an interview monitored by African Editors on Sunday 25 July 2021, the Nandom Legislator who was mourning the late Lance Corporal Emmanuel Osei, a Police Officer who lost his life in a day light robbery and Member of Special Weapons and Tactics Unit said “A Country that does not appreciate those who die in line of service is not worth dying for”.

“Ghana, our Country is worth dying for so today we celebrate the life of the long list of Police who have given their lives. But I think that what has been missed is that we ensure that we set standards  and specifications for the Billion Van’s to meet what we were trying to set up now. Also to ask the Banks to provide Protective clothing for those who serve them”.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh gave a June 3rd ultimatum for Banks to purchase Bullion Vans; however, Banks have indicated that this implementation is underway.
