Radio Gold, XYZ and others to get back old frequencies- NCA

CEO of the National Communications Authority (NCA), spectrum regulatory and administrative body, has disclosed that the proprietors of Accra-based Radio Gold, Radio XYZ and 131 others, which were closed down for some Frequency Modulation (FM) infractions that they will get their old frequencies back subsequent to satisfying every one of the needs for their re-authorisation.

In the said message read by the host of the show, the CEO of NCA assured that the
book runnners of the stations that they will be given back their old frequencies.

“Governing Board of the National Communications Authority (NCA), at a Board meeting held on eleventh October 2021, endorsed the award of an aggregate of 133 FM which incorporate new applications from elements whose FM radio stations were shut down after the 2017 FM review just as existing stations which applied for recharging of their FM Radio telecom approvals from the NCA said.

Various radio stations including Radio Gold and XYZ were closed somewhere near the National Communications Authority in May 2019.

The NCA clarified that the terminations were done in accordance with Regulations 65 (1) of the Electronic Communications Regulations, 2011, L. I. 1991, which expresses that “an individual will not utilize a radio recurrence without approval from the Authority.”
