SP sworn-in: I’m unable to stop corruption but will make it costly- Kissi Agyebeng

Criminal Law Lecturer at University of Ghana School of Law Kissi Agyebeng has been sworn-in by President Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s Special Prosecutor.

Speaking upon his swearing-in ceremony at Jubilee House on Thursday 5 August 2021 in Accra, the University of Ghana School of Law Criminal Law Lecturer Kissi Agyebeng said ”.As I mentioned during my vetting, I’m not naive to say I’m coming to stop corruption but will make it costly, very expensive for people to engage in. I will do my best to reduce it to the bearest minimum.

The Electronic and Communication Tribunal Chair Kissi Agyabeng has promised to Institute aperiodic systemic review of public sector agencies including Ministries, Department and Agencies under Office of the Special Prosecutor to fight and minimise corruption.

According to Lawyer Agyebeng, the said systemic reviews known as “Pressure for progress”, will be instituted under his regime as Special Prosecutor to conduct ratings of public servants to publish Corruption index.

Lawyer Agyebeng replaces Martin Amidu who resigned because of political interference in his work by President Akufo-Addo after corruption risk assessment of controversial Agyapa Deal.

He becomes the second and the youngest Ghana’s Special Prosecutor who has already promised to work with the media and Civil Society Groups to nib corruption in the
