UG student sues VC, Dean, others for being disqualified from JCR elections

A level 300 studets of University of Ghana Caleb Elorm Kadu has dragged Vice Chancellor, Dean of Students to an Accra High Court who are the three senior authorities of the premier University for disqualifying him from JCR Presidential race.

The three are the Vice-Chancellor, Dean of Student Affairs, and a Senior Tutor at Alexander Kwapong Hall .

Likewise in the suit are the Junior Common Room (JCR) President and Electoral Commissioner of the Kwapong Hall.

Caleb Kadu, an occupant of the Hall, is bothered over his preclusion from the 2021 JCR Presidential race.

He said on “eighteenth June 2021, he got a letter from the Dean of Student Affairs excluding him as a Presidential competitor in the Alexander Kwapong Hall JCR races without being given a hearing in contradiction of Article 23 of the 1992 Constitution and the audi alteram partem standard of normal equity.”

Prior to this, the BSc Education (Physics) students Caleb Kadu professes to have been cleared by the Dean of Students to challenge in the official race.
