V/R: Dagbamate appeals for govt support

The chiefs and people of DAGBAMATE, a community that has built its own amenities and known for its cleanliness and crime free say they are at lost to government’s inability to constructing their bad road as their only request to government.

According to the people, the bad roads took away the joy of this year’s Easter festival from them and therefore vowed to take up their own road construction if government fails to adhere to their call.

The people of DAGBAMATE worship and live by the dictates of the Afetorku Shrine. Every member in this community is expected to be live a life of cleanliness and honesty, hence no one steals nor liter in this community.

People from far and near visit the community to seek for help from the shrine which they prefer to call the temple.

During Easter, all who have sought help from the shrine come to offer thanksgiving to the shrine and the proceeds is used to undertake development projects in the community. Out of that the community is able to build a hospital, school, ICT center, and connect to water and electricity among others.

This year at the Easter thanksgiving, the chiefs and people are committing their resources to put up the biggest palace in the Volta Region.

However the people lament the poor state of their road and why government in spite of their selfhelped efforts have failed to grant their request to construct their road for them.

Secretary to the shrine explain how the community is able to undertake their own projects through proceeds from Thanksgiving.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Akatsi South Municipality who joined in the celebration of the people of DAGBAMATE has called for government’s support.

Representative of Torgbi Sri, president of the Anlo state encouraged traditional leaders to uphold tradition.

He encourage the general public to visit the area and experience more life.

The program was attended by some high profile personalities including the former speaker of Parliiament Doe Azdaho,
Togbe Agorkorli IV from Notsie and some ambassadors from Benni and Togo.
