Ghana Gas denies involvement in controversial Airport West property acquisition
Ghana Gas denies role in alleged inflated property purchase
Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas) has strongly dismissed reports alleging that its current management acquired a property at No. 225 Osibisa Close, Airport West, Accra, at an inflated price, describing the publications as false and misleading.
Current management distances itself from the purchase
In a statement signed by Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, Head of Corporate Affairs, Ghana Gas clarified that the acquisition of the property was undertaken under the previous administration. The company emphasized that the current management had no role whatsoever in the purchase or any decisions relating to the transaction.
Property already flagged in Auditor-General’s Report
According to the company, the acquisition was among issues highlighted in the 2024 Auditor-General’s Report, which reportedly made adverse findings regarding the transaction. Ghana Gas noted that the matter predates the tenure of the current management.
EOCO and state agencies investigating the matter
The statement further disclosed that the transaction is currently under investigation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and other relevant state investigative bodies. Ghana Gas said it is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigations and expressed confidence that the facts will demonstrate the current management’s lack of involvement.
Public urged to verify information
The company called on media organizations and the general public to disregard what it described as inaccurate publications and to verify information before sharing or publishing claims relating to the property acquisition.
Commitment to transparency
Ghana Gas reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, good corporate governance, and the prudent management of public resources, stressing that it remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards in its operations.
The statement was signed by Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, Head of Corporate Affairs, on behalf of the Management and Governing Board of Ghana National Gas Limited Company.
