Hearts players are not intelligent- Amankwa Mireku
Ex-Hearts of Oak Captain, Amankwa Mireku has taken a swipe at Hearts of Oak players over their shambolic display in the CAF Champions League and Confederation cup this season.
Ghana League champions Accra Hearts of Oak represented the country in the continental championship. They were dumped out of the Champions League by Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco by 6-2 on aggregate.
They had the second chance to make amends in the second-tier competition, the Confederation cup against Algerian side JS Saoura.
Hearts won the first League in Accra by 2-0, but were kicked out after succumbing to 4-0 defeat in Algeria.
There have been mixed reactions to the latest embarrassing defeat, with some calling for the head of the coach and others blaming the players.
The latest to add his voice is the ex-Captain of Hearts, Amankwa Mireku who chastised the players for their poor showing and questioned their intellect in an interview with Asempa FM.
“the coach cannot stop play and issue new instructions when a football match is ongoing. You are supposed to apply whatever you’ve learned as a player. You shouldn’t wait for the coach to tell you that your opponent is about to cross the ball so defend. Hearts of Oak players are not intelligent”
