Ken Agyapong & Sylvester Tetteh in near brawl at Parliament

Tensions escalated in Ghana’s Parliament on Tuesday, February 13, when a seemingly routine greeting between Members of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong and Sylvester Tetteh took a dramatic turn.

The incident occurred when Sylvester Tetteh, the MP for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro, attempted to greet Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, as he entered the chamber.

A video captured by the media, showed Agyapong visibly displeased with Tetteh’s friendly gesture. Agyapong, known for his outspoken demeanor, was seen verbally berating Tetteh and instructing him to move away, escalating the exchange in intensity, taking many by surprise. It took the timely intervention of Deputy Majority Leader Alex Afenyo-Markin to whisk Sylvester Tetteh away from the lawmaking chamber to save the situation.

It is important to anchor the point that the Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong and Ngleshie Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh later reconciled and decided to smoke the peace pipe in an urgent meeting convened by Deputy Majority Leader Alex Afenyo-Markin.
