NDC Begins Nationwide Branch Elections

The Western Regional Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended a message of goodwill and solidarity to all aspirants contesting for branch executive positions as the party officially commences the election of new branch officers across the country.

In a statement dated June 19, 2026, the Regional Communications Officer, Richard Kirk-Mensah, speaking on his own behalf and on behalf of the Western Regional Executives, wished all contestants success and urged them to uphold the democratic values of the party throughout the electoral process.

Branches Described as the Foundation of the Party

According to the statement, branch structures remain the “brain and soul” of the NDC, serving as the foundation upon which the party’s strength, growth, and electoral successes are built.

Mr. Kirk-Mensah emphasized that the ongoing branch elections are crucial to the party’s preparations and efforts towards securing victory in the 2028 general elections. He noted that strong and effective branch leadership will play a vital role in mobilizing support and strengthening the party at the grassroots level.

Call for Peaceful and Transparent Elections

The Western Regional Communication Bureau expressed hope that the elections would be conducted in a peaceful, transparent, and democratic manner that reflects the core principles of the NDC. The statement stressed the need for all stakeholders to conduct themselves responsibly and ensure that the electoral process promotes unity rather than division within the party.

Unity Key to Party’s Success

Mr. Kirk-Mensah underscored the importance of unity at the branch level, warning that any actions capable of creating divisions within the party could undermine its progress and future electoral fortunes.

He urged aspirants and party members alike to place the collective interests of the NDC above individual ambitions, describing unity as a critical ingredient for the party’s continued growth and success.

Advice to Winners and Unsuccessful Aspirants

Addressing those who will emerge victorious in the elections, the Regional Communications Officer encouraged them to work closely with their predecessors and all party members to strengthen and consolidate the branches.

He noted that leadership comes with responsibility and requires inclusiveness, humility, and teamwork to achieve meaningful progress.

For aspirants who may not succeed at the polls, Mr. Kirk-Mensah appealed for continued commitment to the party, reminding them that elections are temporary but the NDC remains a common home for all members.

Focus on 2028 Victory

The statement concluded with a call on all members to work together to build stronger branches, deepen party unity, and position the NDC for a resounding victory in the 2028 general elections.

“Together, let us build stronger branches, deepen party unity, and position the NDC for a resounding victory in 2028,” the statement said.

The message ended with the party’s traditional rallying call: “Long Live the NDC! Long Live Ghana!”
