2024 polls: Mahama meets Christian Ecumenical Councils

Ghana’s opposition Leader John Dramani Mahama has met Christian Ecumenical Councils ahead of 2024 general elections.

According to the NDC flagbearer, meeting with the leadership of the Christian Ecumenical Councils was a great privilege, as we engaged in a meaningful and insightful conversation about the future of our nation. As we approach the 2024 elections, it is crucial that we come together to discuss the path forward for Ghana. The decisions we make in the upcoming elections will have a lasting impact on our country and its people.

He noted that, during our meeting, I stressed the importance of effective leadership, particularly in these challenging times. The Bible teaches us about the significance of righteous leadership in bringing prosperity to a nation. Therefore, we must consider the qualities of effective and compassionate leadership as we look towards the future.

I also highlighted the need for the Christian community to actively support and advocate for leadership that embodies justice, honesty, fairness, and compassion. Our collective efforts can help shape a better future for Ghana.

Furthermore, we discussed the important partnership between the church and the state in the fields of education and healthcare. The church has played a vital role in establishing schools and healthcare facilities, and it is essential to find ways to collaborate and enhance the effectiveness of these institutions.

As part of my national dialogue on education, we will explore ways to increase cooperation between religious organizations and the state in school management. It is crucial to ensure that education remains affordable without compromising on quality.

Similarly, there is a need for a new partnership to manage mission hospitals. Collaborating in this area can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services for our citizens.

I am committed to continuing these discussions and look forward to finding innovative solutions through collaboration and dialogue. Thank you to the Christian Ecumenical Councils for their valuable contributions to our dialogue on the future of Ghana. Together, we can build the nation we aspire to see.
