Bad roads in Hohoe GPRTU, others threaten demonstration

What seems to be the only good road into the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region which was constructed some two years ago has fast deteriorated to the greater dissatisfaction of road users especially commercial drivers.

Members of the GPRTU Hohoe branch are calling on the government to turn an eye to the bad nature of Hohoe roads or they will hit the streets to demonstrate.

Poor road network into the Hohoe municipality became a political discussion during the campaign towards the 2016 election with the NPP candidate accusing the NDC of neglecting the Hohoe roads. Few months into power, the NPP government began some roads construction by continuing the Eastern Corridor road into the Hohoe municipality but the work seems stalled, leaving commuters to battle with dust and the roughness of the road.

Construction of the alternation road into Hohoe from Fodome was however completed some two years ago but just two years on, the road has deteriorated due to the pressure and poor standard of work. Some driver now go on the road to patch the deep holes formed on the road.

They say they will soon be hitting the road soon to demonstrate against government to register their displeasure. Metro news will keep you posted.
