Covid-19 : We’re disappointed in political regime- GMA

Deputy General Secretary of Ghana Medical Association Dr. Titus Beyuo says the association is disappointed in the current political regime in their feet-dragging attitudes towards enforcement of Covid-19 safety protocols.

The latest sentiments expressed by the medical practitioner follows what he referred to as total disregard for the safety protocols by President Akufo-Addo, his vice the Chief Justice and government’s machinery in the full glare of the public setting bad precedents and preventing total compliance to the safety rules.

According to him, the GMA has lost 9 members to Covid-19 pandemic, Ugandan Medical Association has 12 Medical Doctors despite efforts to battle the virus.

Speaking in an interview monitored by African Editors on 26 July 2021 in Accra, the Infectious Disease Centre Member Dr. Titus Beyuo said “In fact we’re very disappointed in political leadership”

He noted that “Ministry of Health must be transparent. Let’s not take our healthcare practitioners for granted and whatever is due them should be paid in this fight”.

Let’s observe the safety protocols to protect ourselves and family The public should not depend on political leadership because they have failed us”

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo in his Covid-19 updates insists his office is committed to vaccinating 20 million Ghanaians.
