Ex-GFA Prez Kwesi Nyantakyi to contest Ejisu bye-election

Ex-GFA Prez Kwesi Nyantakyi to contest Ejisu bye-election

The Ejisu Constituency Parliamentary seat remains unfilled as Parliament has not yet declared it vacant for a by-election following the passing of the late Member of Parliament, John Ampontuah Kumah. However, potential candidates are starting to emerge for the upcoming by-election.

One such candidate is former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, who has expressed his interest in contesting the by-election. Nyantakyi believes that he is eligible to run but is also mindful of the grieving process within the constituency following the loss of the late MP.

Speaking at the launch of the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional Campaign team in Kumasi, Nyantakyi hinted at his intentions to participate in the by-election once the official timetable is announced.

While acknowledging the mourning period for the late MP, Nyantakyi emphasized his connection to the constituency and his readiness to contest when the time is right. He also urged the party to trust the judgment of the flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in selecting a running mate.

“The Ejisu by-election is inevitable, but we must respect the mourning period for now. I am from there and have the right to contest. Let’s wait for the official announcement before making any decisions,” Nyantakyi stated.
