Ghana’s special envoy for reparations pays courtesy call on Ghana mission in the Hague

Ghana’s Presidential Special Envoy for Reparations, Ambassador Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, paid a courtesy call on the Ghana Mission in The Hague following his participation in the 25th Anniversary Commemoration of the United Nations Durban Declaration and Programme of Action (DDPA), held from 8–9 August 2026 under the theme “Nothing About Us Without Us: Recognition, Repair, Justice & Implementation.”

Ambassador Spio-Garbrah was received by H.E. Eddison Mensah Agbenyegah, Deputy Head of Mission; Prof. Emmanuel Netsey-Afedo, Minister-Counsellor/Head of Chancery; Bismark Anyanah, and other members of staff of the Mission.

During the courtesy engagement, the Special Envoy conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, to the Mission and its staff.

He expressed appreciation for the courtesies, hospitality and support extended to him during his engagements in The Hague, and commended the Mission for its important role in projecting Ghana’s interests, values and image internationally.

Ambassador Spio-Garbrah encouraged the Mission’s leadership and staff to continue upholding professionalism, integrity, discipline and commitment in the discharge of their responsibilities, while remaining aligned with the President’s Reset Agenda and Ghana’s broader diplomatic priorities.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to underscore the importance of closer coordination between Ghana’s diplomatic missions and the Office of the Special Envoy for Reparations, particularly in advancing Ghana’s engagement on heritage, restitution and the global reparations agenda.

Ambassador Spio-Garbrah was accompanied by Mr. Michael Korshie Asagba, Head of Cultural Heritage, Restitution and Protocol, Office of the Special Envoy for Reparations, Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana.
