MESSAGE OF CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ORGANIZING TEAM FOR THE 10th ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION
OF THE DEMISE OF PRESIDENT JOHN EVANS ATTA MILLS.
On behalf of the Functional Executive Commitee of the NDC, we doff our hats to the organizing team of the President John Evans Atta Mills’ 10th anniversary commemoration. We praise their resilience and determination in the face of attempts by the President Akufo-Addo government
and its hirelings to hijack the occasion for their parochial interests. Through the combined efforts of the party, the
J.E.A. Mills Memorial Heritage, supporters, friends and the numerous well wishers, the organisers ensured a dignified commemoration.
The series of Regional lectures that have taken place have provided much food for thought. Last Tuesday’s commemorative lecture in particular was edifying, and we congratulate Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata and the various speakers who graced the occasion with their clarity of thought and profound words of wisdom at a time of grave
national crisis with the ship of state sinking.
It is gratifying to note that Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, widow of President Atta Mills, continues to stay in touch
with happenings in the country, and her message on the occasion of the 10th anniversary was powerful and very
We thank Dr. Cadman Mills, Hon. Sammy Atta Mills, and the entire family of the late President for their courage
in standing up in defence of the core values of peace, humility, honesty, truthfulness and personal integrity for which we shall always celebrate President Atta Mills.
While celebrating the success of the commemorative events, we join hands with the Memorial Heritage in dispelling the rumours surrounding the meeting held between President Akufo-Addo and Messrs. Totobi Quakyi and Alex Segbefia in the days preceding the start of the party’s commemorative events. We wish it to be known that the leadership of the party was fully briefed the moment the invitation to meet President Akufo-Addo was received, and deliberations therefrom had nothing to do with the funding of the Memorial Heritage which Mr. Segbefia chairs.
The leadership of the NDC looks forward to working with the Memorial Heritage and the Atta Mills family to preserve the significant contributions of the late President to decent political discourse and national development.
