NPP Primaries: Asenso-Boakye retains Bantama seat

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has successfully retained his seat as the NPP’s candidate for the constituency in the primaries.

Asenso-Boakye emerged victorious over his opponent, lawyer Ralph Agyapong, the brother of Kennedy Agyapong, in the parliamentary primaries held on Saturday.

Agyapong graciously conceded defeat before the official declaration by the Electoral Commission, acknowledging his opponent’s well-fought campaign. Subsequently, Agyapong and his supporters left the counting area before the final declaration.

Asenso-Boakye secured an impressive 78% of the votes, while Agyapong garnered 21%.

With this victory, Asenso-Boakye will now focus on campaigning to ensure the NPP’s success in the upcoming general election, as he aims to represent the Bantama constituency in Parliament for another term.
