Revoke appointments of our staff to MMDAs -CLOGSAG to gov’t

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called on government to revoke the appointments of staff who are actively in the service and as well being appointed as Assembly members at the various Assemblies because it is against the contravention of the Supreme Court ruling on Neutrality.

The Association presumed that some members have been sworn-in as Assembly members in the recent district Assembly elections held last year across the country.

In a statement issued and signed by the Executive Director of CLOGSAG, Isaac Bampoe Addo urged appointees to the Assemblies to honourably resign to avoid any embarrassment from the Association.

” According to the Supreme Court ruling, it implied that members can either be a staff or government appointee and not both”, it stated.

The statement further advised its members to desist from any promotion or government appointment assigned by any political body as indicated according to the Supreme Court ruling on Neutrality.

” it is important to remind ourselves of the Supreme Court ruling on Neutrality which states that; Public officers which includes Civil servants are enjoined to avoid conflict of interest situations in the performance of their official duties”, the statement noted.
