Withdraw emission levy –NPP’s Nana B to gov’t

Nana B, the National Organiser of Ghana’s governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), is calling on the government to rescind the emission levy, which he believes is unnecessary and not suitable for Ghana’s current state of vehicle technology. He emphasized the need for the Finance Minister to retract the levy and stated that the NPP shares his stance on the issue.

Nana B made these remarks during an appearance on Peace FM on Friday, 2 February 2024. The emission levy, which came into effect on 1 February 2024, is intended to address greenhouse gas emissions and promote eco-friendly technology and green energy.

Vehicle owners are required to register and pay the levy through the Ghana.gov platform, with the amounts ranging from GHS75 to GHS300 per annum depending on the type of vehicle.
