NPP Leadership Convenes Emergency Meeting
The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begun reviewing the court’s judgement involving the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, following the ruling in the Samreboi mining case. The meeting brings together the party’s top leadership, its flagbearer, and legal team as they assess the implications of the court’s decision and consider the party’s next course of action.

General Secretary Confirms Deliberations
NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua announced the development in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, confirming that the party was carefully examining the court’s verdict before making any public pronouncement. According to him, the discussions are focused on reviewing the details of the judgement and determining the most appropriate response.
“The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), together with our flagbearer and the party’s legal team, is currently in a meeting to thoroughly review the judgement delivered by the Court in the case involving our Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, concerning the Samreboi mining matter, and to determine the appropriate next course of action,” Mr Kodua stated.

Official Position to Be Announced

Mr Kodua indicated that the party would communicate its official position only after the meeting had concluded and a decision had been reached. He assured members and the public that the outcome of the deliberations would be made known in due course. “The party will communicate its official position and the decisions arising from these deliberations in due course,” he added.

Call for Calm and Unity
In the wake of the court’s decision, the NPP General Secretary appealed to party supporters and members to remain calm and united. He urged the rank and file of the party to place their confidence in the leadership while the legal and political implications of the judgement are being assessed. “In the meantime, I respectfully urge all members of our great Party to rally behind the leadership during this challenging moment. Let us remain calm, united, disciplined, and steadfast in our commitment to the values and interests of the New Patriotic Party,” Mr Kodua said.

With the leadership still reviewing the judgement, attention now turns to the party’s next move. The NPP is expected to announce its official response after consultations with its legal team, as supporters await clarity on the way forward in the Chairman Wontumi case.
