Vivo Energy Ghana fuels clean-up efforts and promotes eco-friendly living during Sustainability Week

Vivo Energy Ghana PLC, the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, has climaxed this year’s Sustainability Week celebration themed “Kicking Off for Sustainability” with a fuel donation to Buz Stop Boys, a sanitation-focused volunteer organisation championing cleaner communities, and a customer engagement activation at selected Shell service stations, where motorists received eco-friendly reusable bottles.

The initiatives reflect Vivo Energy Ghana’s commitment to sustainability and its vision to be Africa’s leading and most respected energy business. Beyond delivering quality fuels and lubricants, the company continues to drive meaningful social and environmental impact in the communities where it operates.

Addressing his employees and representatives of Buz Stop Boys at the donation ceremony, Mr. Christian Li, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana commended the organisation for its commitment to improving sanitation and driving positive behavioural change across communities. He noted that the work of Buz Stop Boys demonstrates how collective action can create tangible environmental impact, while serving as a reminder that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

He explained that the fuel donation is intended to support the organisation’s clean-up and sanitation activities by improving mobility and enabling them to extend their reach to more communities nationwide.

“By supporting the mobility and operational coordination of Buz Stop Boys, we are helping them reach more communities where their clean-up interventions are needed most,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of Buz Stop Boys, Mr. Heneba Kwadwo Safo, Founder and Leader of the organisation, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Vivo Energy Ghana for recognising and supporting their work in promoting environmental cleanliness across the country.

He explained that the movement was established to transform attitudes towards sanitation in Ghana by reviving the spirit of volunteerism, community participation, and shared responsibility in addressing environmental challenges.

Mr. Safo noted that the fuel donation would significantly support the organisation’s buses, tricycles, and operational equipment, strengthening their mobility and enabling them to sustain and expand their clean-up activities in communities where they are most needed.

He added that partnerships such as this are critical to advancing their mission of fostering cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally conscious communities.

As the climax of its 2026 Sustainability Week celebration, Vivo Energy Ghana also engaged customers through a site activation at two Shell service stations; Shell Liberation and Airport City Shell, where customers who purchased fuel were rewarded with eco-friendly reusable bottles.

The initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting responsible consumption, reducing reliance on single-use plastics, and encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly alternatives that help reduce pollution.

By engaging customers at the forecourt, the company reinforced the message that sustainability is not only achieved through large-scale interventions but also through everyday choices that collectively drive positive environmental impact.
