It’s only a weak man who forgives cheating partner- Yul Edochie

Yul Edochie sparks debate over comments on infidelity
Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred intense reactions online after making controversial remarks about cheating and forgiveness in relationships.
The actor shared his views during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he discussed loyalty, emotional attachment, and infidelity between partners

Women who cheat have already checked out”
Speaking during the interview, Edochie argued that women who truly love their partners remain deeply committed to the relationship. According to him, many men stay in relationships with women who are emotionally invested elsewhere.
“If you meet a woman who loves you, she will be willing to do anything for you. But the problem is that a lot of men are with women who don’t love them and are wasting their time,” he said. The 44-year-old actor further claimed that once a woman becomes unfaithful, it signals emotional and psychological detachment from the relationship.
“I tell you, once a woman begins to cheat, she has checked out emotionally and psychologically,” Edochie stated.

Reference to viral alleged affair
While speaking on the issue, Edochie referenced a recent viral controversy involving an alleged affair between a married woman and a younger man.
Although he did not mention names, the actor suggested that the woman’s emotional loyalty had shifted away from her husband.
“I don’t want to mention names, but look at the recent controversy over the alleged illicit affair of a young man with a married woman, where the husband was complaining to his wife to save their marriage, and the wife was trying to protect the young man,” he said.
According to Edochie, such situations prove that emotional connection plays a major role in relationships and infidelity.
“Forgiving Cheating Makes a Man Weak”
The actor’s strongest reaction came when he addressed forgiveness after infidelity.
Edochie insisted that men should never tolerate cheating in relationships, adding that forgiving an unfaithful partner is a sign of weakness.
“So, there is nothing like forgiveness when it comes to cheating. If you do, you are a weak man,” he declared.
The statement immediately sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some agreeing with his stance while others criticized his views as controversial and extreme.

Advice to men on relationships
Beyond the debate on infidelity, Edochie advised men to establish strong boundaries in relationships and avoid becoming emotionally dependent on women. He maintained that women are naturally drawn to strong and confident men.
“People don’t understand, women love deeper. Just find the one who loves you, and you will be surprised how sweet life is,” he said.
He also warned men against becoming overly submissive in relationships.
“Don’t be a fool because of a woman. If you simp for women, you can’t get a real woman. You must set boundaries. Women don’t love weak men,” Edochie added.

Social media reactions trail interview
Following the interview, social media users expressed divided opinions over Edochie’s remarks.
While some users supported his views on boundaries and loyalty, others argued that forgiveness depends on personal values, circumstances, and mutual understanding between couples.
The interview has since continued to generate conversations online about relationships, emotional commitment, and how couples handle infidelity.
