2021 Service Above Self Best Teacher Awards slated for Jan 7

I received the final report of the Selection Committee on the Service Above Self Best Teacher Awards in Madina Constituency today, 3rd January, 2022.

The Selection Committee was chaired by Professor Abu Yaya – Acting Dean School of Engineering. The co-chairperson was Ms Angela Nkansah: Municipal Director of Education, Madina.

Other members of the Committee were Prof. Charles Barnor – Pro Vice Chancellor, UPSA, Prof Raymond Dziwornu: Dean Faculty of Accounting and Finance, UPSA, Dr. Haruna Rufai: Senior Reseach Fellow, UPSA, Dr. Christopher Quaidoo: Lecturer, UPSA- Member, Mr. Adams Yunus, University of Ghana, Mr. Odjidja David, Headmaster Presec and Tim K Avordeh, the Chief Executive of the Eduscheme in the Office of the Member of Parliament.

A total of 30 applications were considered and 14 teachers were shortlisted and taken through rigorous processes of engagements for the overall Best Teacher to be determined. In all 14 Teachers will be Awarded together with 26 other distinguished persons including long service Awards and Volunteer Awards.

I have carefully considered the report and the recommendations and feel very satisfied with the work of these highly placed personalities and can say without a shadow of doubt that a good job has been done by the committee devoid of any partisan consideration. I commend the highly professional, open and accountable manner in which the process were undertaken and hope next year will even be better and greater with more sponsors coming on board.

Please join us at the House of Miracle Auditorium on 7th January 2022 at 2pm to Honor our Teachers and also very distinguished personalities in the Constituency who continue to sacrifice in support of Education as I account to you about my first year in office.

There is a good reason why you should support the African Editors. Not everyone can afford to pay for news right now. That is why we keep our journalism open for everyone to read, including in Ghana. If this is you, please continue to read for free. But if you are able to, then there are three good reasons to support us today.

1. Our quality, journalism is a scrutinising force at a time when the rich and powerful are getting away with more and more.

2. We are independent and have no billionaire owner pulling the strings, so your money directly powers our reporting.

3. It doesn’t cost much, and takes less time than it took to read this message.

Help power the African Editors' journalism for the years to come, whether with a small sum or a larger one. If you can, please support us on a monthly basis from just 1 Ghana Cedi through mobile money number: 0599896099/ +23359989609 and you can be rest assured that you’re making a big impact every single month in support of open, independent journalism. Thank you.
