AFCON2021: Second round of matches kick-off today

The ongoing African Cup Of Nation is gaining momentum and enthusiasm with all nations playing a match in their group with few upsets.

The second round of matches kicks off today with the host Cameroon after coming back from a goal down to beat Burkina Faso by two goals to one thanks to Vincent Abubakar’s two penalty goals.

They are up against Ethiopia who with a man down in the match against Cape Verde possessed the ball very well but couldn’t create any goal-scoring opportunities.

Highly spirited Cameroon would want to send signals to other teams of their intentions of hosting and winning, so they will go all out to record their second win in two matches.

Ethiopia possesses the ball a lot but struggles to make a meaningful impact upfront. They do not have any chance against Cameroon.

The second and the last match of the day will be between high-flying Cape Verde and Burkina Faso.

Cape Verde was in their element when they met Ethiopia, dominated play, and got the three maximum points. A draw today can even help them into the next stage of the competition.

It going to be a difficult encounter especially when Burkina Faso lost against the host, they would want to make amends by getting a result that could catapult them into the next stage.

With the strength of both teams, it could end in a draw.
